On September 2008 my beautiful wife Ruth had a stroke. I was with her in hospital for 17 traumatic hours where she later died. She was just a few months away from her 44th birthday. Since then, I recorded a CD over the summer which I've dedicated to her. The CD is called 'Unveiling Beauty' featuring 11 tracks of different musical styles such as rockin' Blues, Celtic, Folk, and even Country. It is a fairly full sound with bass, acoustic and electric guitars, drums, and vocals with layers of harmonies. I did all the singing and played all the instruments myself except the bass guitar. This project gave me something productive to do, and now I'm very pleased to have something tangible that honours her and reflects what was important to us.

- I'm originally from the west coast of Canada, and my wife Ruth was from Northern Ireland. We met and married in Chelmsford Essex before moving to Orkney in 2004. I am 43 years old now. I was 37 when my wife died, less than three months away from her 44th birthday. She used to joke about how when we got much older together she would be totally gorgeous but I would be the old fuddy-duddy. In a sad way, she was right. Everytime I look at her most recent pictures she will always be 43.
